Philippines-listed Bloomberry Resorts Corp has introduced South Korean singer-rapper Psy as the official brand ambassador for its two casino resorts in the country.
Bloomberry operates Solaire Resort & Casino in Manila and recently expanded its footprint with the May opening of Solaire Resort North, a gaming complex located in Quezon City, northeast of the capital.
The collaboration follows Psy’s highly successful performance at The Theatre at Solaire Resort & Casino on September 14, an event that the company highlighted as a testament to the K-pop icon’s immense popularity in the Philippines.
Cyrus Sherafat, Solaire Resort’s executive vice president and head of gaming, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, stating, “We are thrilled to have Psy join us as our brand ambassador. His talent and charisma captivate audiences globally, not just in Korea.” Sherafat added that the collaboration underscores Solaire’s dedication to creating exceptional guest experiences while strengthening ties with the vibrant Korean community in the Philippines.
As brand ambassador, Psy will take part in various promotional initiatives aimed at enhancing Solaire’s cultural and entertainment appeal, according to the company.
South Korea continues to dominate as the Philippines’ leading source of foreign tourists, with nearly 1.32 million arrivals in the first 10 months of 2024, representing 27 percent of the total. This figure marks an 11.4-percent increase compared to the same period last year. Analysts have also noted that South Korean high rollers have been key contributors to the VIP segment in the country’s casino sector this year.
Despite these positive developments, Bloomberry Resorts reported a consolidated net loss of PHP470.2 million (approximately US$8 million) for the third quarter of 2024, a significant decline compared to a PHP1.95 billion profit during the same period last year. Consolidated net revenue for the quarter reached PHP13.67 billion, a 27.2-percent drop year-on-year, while operating expenses surged 55.2 percent to PHP11.67 billion.
