Waterfront Manila Casino to Hold Soft Opening in Early 2026

The Waterfront Manila Hotel & Casino in the Philippines is set to reopen in a phased approach, as outlined in a Thursday filing with the Philippine Stock Exchange by its developer, Acesite (Philippines) Hotel Corp. Acesite is majority-owned (56%) by Waterfront Philippines Inc.

The first phase, which includes the casino, is now planned for a soft opening in the first quarter of 2026. According to the company, this initial phase will prioritize completing the podium structure, encompassing public spaces such as the lobby, select dining outlets, and the casino.

Redevelopment work began in 2018 following a significant fire, as per earlier corporate disclosures. The second phase, slated for late in the third quarter of 2026, will introduce additional guest amenities and facilities. The final phase, targeted for early 2027, is expected to complete the remaining hotel rooms and general amenities, signifying the full reopening of the property.

The group acknowledged that previous timelines for the complex’s reopening had been revised due to construction delays and the decision to stagger the reopening process. In its statement, Acesite attributed these delays to a range of unforeseen challenges encountered during the redevelopment and reconstruction phases. These included technical complexities, adjustments to project plans to enhance facilities, and logistical issues such as sourcing specialized materials and equipment.

The company further explained that some of these challenges stemmed from the decision to retain the building’s original structure, which is over 50 years old, as a cost-saving measure. Site-specific complications also arose, including the need for extensive structural reinforcements and adaptations to the existing foundation. Acesite emphasized that these additional reinforcements were critical to ensuring the long-term safety and comfort of both guests and employees.
