The Philippines stands out as a prominent jurisdiction in the Asia-Pacific region, boasting a thriving casino sector that is continuously expanding.
As per recent statements attributed to Enrique Razon, chairman and chief executive of Bloomberry Resorts Corp, the Solaire Resort North casino complex in Quezon City, a part of the Greater Manila area, is anticipated to commence operations in March 2024. Bloomberry Resorts Corp is the promoter of the venue.
According to information provided by Bloomberry earlier, Solaire Resort North is designed to include a hotel tower with a capacity of up to 550 rooms. Additionally, it will feature a gaming area equipped with up to 200 gaming tables and as many as 3,000 slot machines.
Meanwhile, Suntrust Resort Holdings Inc, the developer of a casino hotel at Westside City in Manila, has indicated in filings to the Philippine Stock Exchange that the property might initiate operations in the “fourth quarter of 2024.”
The Casino Filipino chain, under the oversight of the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp (Pagcor), is slated for equipment upgrades before a planned divestment of venues to the private sector. In November, Alejandro Tengco, Pagcor’s chairman and chief executive, disclosed that as part of the upgrade, the delivery of 3,000 brand new slot machines was expected by January 2024.
The Philippines is poised to become the leading growth market in Asia starting from 2024 onwards, marked by an anticipated influx of 50,000 new machines, the inauguration of Solaire Resort North, and the ongoing expansion of remote gaming. This is good news for the online gaming industry and we look forward to see the developments this year.
