Hann Casino soft launched PIGO table games

Hann Casino Resort in Clark, Philippines, recently began operations under its Philippine Inland Gaming Operator (PIGO) licence, offering live table games, according to Cheryl Tiglao, the director of slot at the property. The soft launch of PIGO table operations at Hann Casino occurred less than a month ago, Tiglao said.

We’ve already launched table games, but it’s more of a soft launch for now. When it comes to slots, we’re still in the process. We’re targeting by late next quarter

For slots, the company plans to offer a total of 100 units for PIGO play.

During the Covid-19 period, PIGO was introduced as a licensing category, allowing land-based casino operators in the Philippines to provide online gambling services to the domestic market when pandemic-related restrictions prevented players from visiting casinos. This PIGO regime has continued post-pandemic.

As suggested by the PIGO acronym, these licences are for online gambling services for the domestic market, in contrast to ‘POGO’ licences – Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator permits – aimed at players overseas. These latter licences have been scrutinized in recent years and are now known as Internet Gaming Licences (IGL).

Unlike traditional online gambling that relies on server-based random number generators, PIGO games must connect to physical gaming machines or tables specifically run by the PIGO licensee, making PIGO a form of ‘remote gambling’.

Hann Casino Resort, formerly known as the Widus Hotel and Casino, relaunched in December 2021 under the new branding and is owned and managed by Hann Philippines Inc.
