75 Chinese nations from POGO Pasay hub deported

The Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC) deported 75 Chinese nationals on Friday after uncovering their employment at an illegal Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO) hub in Pasay City. The deported individuals boarded a Philippine Airlines flight to Shanghai.

PAOCC chief Undersecretary Gilbert Cruz indicated that more deportations might follow as the Bureau of Immigration processes additional cases. He mentioned that the bureau was finalizing the paperwork for those set to be deported on Friday morning.

Earlier, the Bureau of Immigration instructed foreign workers at POGOs to leave the country voluntarily during a wind-down period.

This action aligns with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s directive to ban all POGOs, announced during his third State of the Nation Address on July 22nd. Starting in October, the Philippine gaming regulator PAGCOR will begin shutting down the nation’s offshore gaming operators under its supervision.
