Alfredo “Albee” Benitez, a Filipino entrepreneur and politician, recently completed the sale of a portion of his ownership in DigiPlus Interactive (PLUS), as disclosed in a filing with the Philippines Stock Exchange. The divestment involved 66.66 million shares, traded within a price range of PHP 7.01713 to PHP 7.45.
The transaction, facilitated by Makati-based stockbroker CLSA Philippines. DigiPlus Interactive (PLUS), formerly known as Leisure and Resorts World Corp. (LRWC) until its name change in March of the previous year, serves as a holding company for its subsidiaries operating in various gaming and entertainment sectors in the Philippines. Over the past twelve months, its stock has demonstrated robust performance, surging from PHP 2.40 at the beginning of the year to PHP 8.20 by the close of December 2023.
Albee Benitez had previously held a leadership role in PLUS during its LRWC era but resigned in October 2021 to refocus on his political endeavors. The company has recently undergone a digital transformation, unveiling BingoPlus in 2022 and introducing the digital sports betting app Arena Plus in 2023. Despite the recent share sale, Benitez retains ownership of 536.4 million PLUS shares, valued at PHP 4.38 billion.
