Philippine-listed DigiPlus Interactive Corp, a key investor in gaming services such as bingo and digital sportsbook platforms, has reported a significant milestone, doubling its registered user base to over 40 million in 2024. The announcement was made during a company briefing on Thursday and reported by local media.
Chairman Eusebio Tanco expressed optimism about sustaining this growth trajectory, particularly following DigiPlus Interactive’s expansion into Brazil. He also noted that a recent regulatory shift by the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp (PAGCOR) could further support growth. PAGCOR has lowered the gross gaming revenue (GGR) fee for electronic game (e-Games) operators to 30%, a move expected to ease operational costs and enhance profitability.
“Our goal is to outperform the previous year while maintaining realistic expectations for our investors. We don’t anticipate hypergrowth every year, but we do expect steady improvement,” Tanco stated in an interview with BusinessWorld. He added that while the company’s expansion strategy would continue driving growth, it might not match the current rapid pace.
In discussing DigiPlus Interactive’s domestic success, Tanco highlighted the company’s continuous innovation in game offerings. “We have introduced new titles like Perya Game, Color Game, and Pinoy Drop Ball as part of our broader marketing and branding strategy to attract more users,” he said. He also noted that efforts to engage with different regions of the country have been instrumental in driving user acquisition.
Beyond its domestic market, DigiPlus Interactive is making strategic moves internationally. In a January 2 filing, the company announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary, DigiPlus Brazil Interactive Ltda, had received “definitive authority” from the Brazilian government to operate sports betting and other online gaming services. This approval positions DigiPlus to tap into Brazil’s growing online gaming market, further diversifying its revenue streams.
Meanwhile, PAGCOR confirmed in a Monday press release that the reduced GGR fee of 30% for e-Games licensees has been in effect since January 1. This regulatory adjustment is expected to benefit industry players by making the business environment more competitive and sustainable.
With a rapidly expanding user base, regulatory tailwinds, and international expansion efforts, DigiPlus Interactive is poised for further growth in the gaming sector.
