E-lotto test run begins with minimum jackpot of P500 million for Grand and Ultra Lottos

The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) has initiated the trial phase for the online lottery system, known as E-lotto.

According to PCSO General Manager Mel Robles, the objective is to enhance the convenience and accessibility of participating in lotto games for Filipinos aged 18 and above, including those living overseas.

Registration through the web platform is currently available, and a mobile phone app is anticipated to be launched next year, as per Robles. Bettors are required to possess a government-issued ID from the Philippines and a Philippine SIM number.

PCSO anticipates that the total sales for the coming year will reach P70 billion, thanks to the introduction of e-lotto. This year, the total sales amounted to P55.3 billion as of November.

Robles emphasized that the PCSO foresees the growth of e-lotto but assured that traditional betting will not be adversely affected, drawing on experiences from other countries.

“When they have e-lotto, the outlets become even stronger. Why? Because the lottery is jackpot-driven. The larger the jackpot, the more people will bet, both online and traditionally,” explained Robles. Pacific Online Systems Corporation (POSC), the exclusive agent overseeing the one-year trial of e-lotto, reassured the public about the security of its system.

“Our lotto system has a comprehensive security program in place to safeguard player data from unauthorized access or disclosure. We employ measures such as data encryption, access control, security audits, audit logs, network security, and data loss prevention,” stated Jackson Ongsip, President of POSC.

We made it sweeter by making it 500 million dalawa jackpot. We’ll give you a big jackpot and we’ll give also the chance to help. That’s our Christmas gift.

Robles added that starting December 16, 2023, the minimum jackpot prize for the Grand Lotto 6/55 and Ultra Lotto 5/58 games will be P500 million as part of the agency’s ‘Handog Pakabog’ Christmas program. He disclosed the possibility of adding another P500 million minimum prize in other games by year-end.

PCSO highlighted that the proceeds from lotto draws contribute to various government charity programs. With a larger prize, they expect more people to participate, leading to increased funds for charitable projects.

PCSO’s e-lotto gives online gaming and lottery players more the convenience of participating in the state lottery online and will be able to cover a market previously untapped.
