The digital wallet GCash is intensifying its efforts against digital fraud through a strategic alliance with the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI).

In a move to strengthen their cooperation in identifying and addressing online fraud, the e-wallet, which is owned by the Zobel de Ayala clan’s billionaire family, has entered into an agreement with the NBI.

GCash expressed its dedication to collaborating with both public and private entities to establish a secure digital environment for all Filipinos. According to the agreement, GCash is empowered to provide the NBI with information about potentially fraudulent accounts and transactions.

With the NBI’s authorization, GCash holds the capability to intervene and prevent a financial institution from proceeding with a transaction involving a user flagged as suspicious.

This is a good start to help fight scams that are prevalent in the online gaming industry, particularly the unlicensed operators. Trust in the payment system operators is essential to build a client base and this will help instill confidence among players in online gaming.
