DigiPlus Interactive Corp. (DigiPlus) is making significant strides toward entering Brazil’s newly regulated iGaming market, a rapidly expanding sector in Latin America.
In a disclosure to the Philippine Stock Exchange on Thursday, the company announced that its subsidiary, DigiPlus Brazil Interactive Ltda., has successfully cleared the qualification phase under Brazil’s Ministry of Finance’s Secretariat of Awards and Bets (SPA). This achievement positions DigiPlus in the final stages of securing a federal license, paving the way for operations to commence in 2025.
The next steps require DigiPlus to meet remaining regulatory obligations within 30 days, including platform certification and payment of licensing fees. Once completed, SPA will release its final list of approved operators eligible to launch services on January 1, 2025.
Upon approval, DigiPlus will be authorized to offer online sports betting and other iGaming services in Brazil. With a population of over 200 million and increasing enthusiasm for sports betting, the market presents a substantial growth opportunity for the company.
“We are excited to bring DigiPlus’ expertise in responsible and innovative gaming to Brazil,” said Eusebio Tanco, Chairman of DigiPlus Interactive Corp. “As we approach the final stages of the licensing process, we are confident in our ability to meet Brazil’s regulatory standards and deliver exceptional gaming experiences to this dynamic market. This expansion reflects our commitment to exploring new opportunities while staying rooted in the Philippines as our primary base.”
The company emphasized that its move into Brazil aligns with its broader strategy of entering international markets with well-regulated frameworks. Brazil’s newly implemented iGaming laws, designed to create a transparent and equitable industry, provide DigiPlus with an ideal platform to expand its global presence while leveraging its gaming expertise.
