
PokerStars, renowned for its online poker platforms and orchestration of live poker tournaments, has announced two forthcoming events as part of the Asia Pacific Poker Tour (APPT) to take place this year at the luxurious casino resort Okada Manila in the Philippine capital.
The two notable events are APPT Manila 2024, scheduled from July 24 to August 5, and the APPT Manila Championship, set to run from October 18 to October 27.
APPT Manila 2024 boasts a guaranteed prize pool of PHP119 million (US$2.15 million) and will unfold at Okada Manila’s prestigious Cove Manila venue.
Meanwhile, the APPT Manila Championship features a guaranteed prize pool of PHP140 million and will be hosted at Okada Manila’s Coral Lounge, as per an update from PokerStars released on Friday.
Byron Yip, President and Chief Operating Officer of Okada Manila, shared his thoughts on the partnership with PokerStars, emphasizing the casino’s standing as a top gaming and entertainment destination in Asia. He remarked, “This partnership underscores our position as one of Asia’s premier gaming and entertainment venues, and it is a testament to our ongoing initiatives aimed at transforming Manila into a leading destination for the most exciting entertainment.”
Cedric Billot, Associate Director of Live Events at PokerStars, highlighted the significance of the APPT circuit, noting its establishment in 2007 and subsequent rise to prominence in Asia. He expressed enthusiasm for the 2024 APPT Manila event, lauding it as one of the largest gatherings in the tour’s history. Billot also praised the new conference space at Okada Manila’s casino, anticipating a spectacular event.
