The Philippines continues to emerge as a top casino jurisdiction in the Asia-Pacific region, with its casino sector expanding at a rapid pace.
Enrique Razon, chairman and CEO of Bloomberry Resorts Corp., confirmed that the Solaire Resort North casino complex in Quezon City will open in March 2024. Bloomberry Resorts Corp. promotes and operates the venue.
Bloomberry earlier revealed that Solaire Resort North will include a hotel tower offering up to 550 rooms. The property will also house a gaming area with as many as 200 gaming tables and 3,000 slot machines.
At the same time, Suntrust Resort Holdings Inc. disclosed in its filings to the Philippine Stock Exchange that its casino hotel project at Westside City in Manila could begin operations in the fourth quarter of 2024.
The Casino Filipino chain, operated by the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. (PAGCOR), will undergo equipment upgrades in preparation for the agency’s planned divestment of its gaming venues to the private sector. In November, PAGCOR Chairman and CEO Alejandro Tengco announced that the agency expects to receive 3,000 brand-new slot machines by January 2024 as part of the modernization effort.
Starting in 2024, the Philippines positions itself as the fastest-growing casino market in Asia. The industry expects the arrival of 50,000 new gaming machines, the opening of Solaire Resort North, and continued growth in remote gaming. These developments bring strong momentum for both land-based and online gaming sectors in the country.
