Newport World Resorts in Manila has named John Lucas as its new Chief Hospitality Officer. He will officially begin his tenure in January 2025. With more than 35 years of hospitality experience, Lucas brings deep industry knowledge and leadership to the role.

He most recently served as General Manager at Hilton Manila. Before that, he held senior positions across the Hilton Group in both Australia and Papua New Guinea. These roles equipped him with broad international expertise that will now benefit Newport World Resorts.

In a recent official statement, Newport World Resorts expressed strong confidence in Lucas’ appointment. The company stated, “John’s insights will be invaluable as we continue to elevate Newport World Resorts to new heights.”

Newport World Resorts operates under Travellers International Hotel Group Inc., a subsidiary of Alliance Global Group Inc.. It features five globally recognized hotel brands—Marriott Manila Hotel, Sheraton Manila Hotel, Hilton Manila, Hotel Okura Manila, and Holiday Inn Express Manila.

Together, these hotels offer a total of 2,742 guest rooms. Recently, the resort reported record occupancy rates and average daily rates across its portfolio. Despite a dip in gross gaming revenue due to changes in VIP volume, the company boosted its performance through strong non-gaming income.

Lucas’ appointment also aligns with Newport’s broader leadership transformation. Earlier this year, the company completed a structured transition plan. As part of that plan, Laurence Hawke took over as Chief Financial Officer, Nilo Rodriguez stepped into the role of President and CEO, and Lance Gautreaux assumed duties as Chief Operating Officer.

This new executive lineup positions Newport World Resorts for continued growth and service innovation as it strengthens its foothold in the Philippine integrated resort sector.
