PAGCOR has officially rejected proposals for a total ban on online gambling in the Philippines, pointing to over ₱100 billion in revenue and the thousands of jobs the sector has generated. The agency emphasized that licensed operators, particularly POGOs, play a vital role in supporting public funds for healthcare, education, and infrastructure.

In response to growing concerns about crimes linked to online gambling, PAGCOR clarified that illegal platforms—not legitimate licensees—are responsible. The agency is intensifying enforcement against unauthorized operators while strengthening oversight on licensed ones.

Instead of pushing for a complete shutdown, PAGCOR urged lawmakers to focus on regulating and monitoring the sector more effectively. A blanket ban, they warned, could push gambling underground, increasing risks for players and complicating law enforcement.

Ongoing reforms include stricter licensing, real-time monitoring tools, and closer coordination with authorities. PAGCOR maintains that with the right controls in place, online gambling can remain a powerful contributor to the Philippine economy without compromising public safety.
